# Edmund vs Apple Reminders

Reminders is an excellent free task manager already on your Apple devices. Edmund does not replace it: it catches the thought, works out where it belongs and can put it into the Reminders list you chose.

Apple Reminders is where a lot of people’s tasks should stay. It is quick to capture into, syncs through iCloud, and goes far beyond a dated checklist: repeating and location-based alerts, subtasks, tags, Smart Lists, shared lists and assignments are all built in. Edmund is not trying to be a richer task manager. It starts one step earlier, when the thought is still half formed, then sorts it and sends it to Reminders or whichever work tracker actually owns it.

Side by side

Coming to the App Store

Apple Reminders details were verified on 9 September 2026 against Apple’s Reminders App Store listing, the iPhone and Mac Reminders User Guides, and the iCloud Reminders guide. Those sources list the free price, Siri and system capture, iCloud sync, scheduled, repeating, location and person-based alerts, tags, Smart Lists, subtasks, sections, templates, shared lists and assignments. Apple owns those features and can change them.
