# Catch the thought before it’s gone.

Type it or say it. **Edmund’s** on-device AI works out where it belongs and files it for you, so capturing an idea is one tap, not five.

How it works

## Think it. Say or type it. Done.

The thought is yours. Everything after it is Edmund’s job.

### Capture instantly

Type it, or just talk. Voice transcribes on-device and stops listening when you do. No faffing about.

![Edmund on iPhone, typing a note, ready to capture](https://www.edmundapp.com/_astro/iphone-capture-typing-light.7UOKbsMO_ZdUQr.webp)

### Let the AI sort it

Every note gets read, classified, and dropped into the right project automatically. No folders to pick, no forms to fill.

![Edmund on iPhone: the Inbox after AI triage, each note filed into a project](https://www.edmundapp.com/_astro/iphone-inbox-light.KzrMUGkk_25FASt.webp)

### Send it onward

When a note’s ready to become real work, route it to any of eleven places, Linear and GitHub among them, as a proper issue, and tidy the title and body first if you fancy.

Features

## Everything you’d want, nothing in your way.

### Capture by text or voice

Type it or talk. Voice transcribes on-device and stops when you do.

### Brain dump mode

Talk for two minutes about six different things. Pause between thoughts and each one comes back as its own triaged note.

### On-device AI triage

Every note read, classified by type and tag, filed into the right project.

### Inbox review

A calm queue. Confirm or tweak Edmund’s call, then keep or route.

### Projects & Areas

Organise into Areas and Projects, with smart lists that keep themselves tidy.

### Keep or route

Keep it as a to-do inside Edmund, or send it onward as a proper issue.

### Routing to eleven places

Turn a note into a real, well-formed issue in Linear or GitHub, and edit the title and body first.

### Reminders & nudges

Get nudged at the right moment, wherever the note went. In Apple Reminders too, if you like.

### Apple Watch

Capture by voice from your wrist; it lands in your Inbox on the phone.

### Widgets

Home Screen and Lock Screen: quick capture, inbox count, your last note.

### Live Activity

See capture state live in the Dynamic Island while you dictate.

### Share extension

Share text, a link or an image from any app straight into Edmund.

### Siri & Shortcuts

“Edmund capture”, “Edmund inbox count”, and more, all hands-free.

### Mac menu-bar

Capture and triage from the menu bar without leaving what you’re doing.

Private by default

## Your thoughts stay yours

By default the triage happens on your device, so no AI provider sees your half-formed thoughts. No account to create, no API key to find, nothing to sign up for to get going.

**On-device by default.** Apple’s on-device models read and classify your notes, free and private.

**Bring your own key, if you like.** Add an Anthropic key for a smarter cloud engine. It only swaps the engine. It never unlocks a feature.

**Works offline.** On-device triage needs no connection. Nothing waits on a server.

Capture anywhere

## From wherever the thought hits

A thought rarely arrives when the app is open. Edmund meets it wherever it lands: your wrist, your Lock Screen, the menu bar, a shared link.

Apple Watch

Capture from your wrist.

Widgets

Home & Lock Screen.

From any app.

Siri & Shortcuts

Hands-free capture.

One press to capture.

Private beta

## Edmund isn’t finished. Come and use it anyway

It’s the build I use every day, and I’d love a few more people poking at it. It’s free while it’s in beta, the AI runs on your device by default, so no AI provider sees your notes, and there’s no account to bother with. Put your name down and I’ll send an invite as they go out.

Integrations

## When a note’s ready to become real work.

Route a captured thought out as a proper issue, title, body, and all. Edmund won’t pretend it ships things it doesn’t.

[Linear](https://www.edmundapp.com/integrations/linear/) [GitHub](https://www.edmundapp.com/integrations/github/) [Jira](https://www.edmundapp.com/integrations/jira/) [GitLab](https://www.edmundapp.com/integrations/gitlab/) [Shortcut](https://www.edmundapp.com/integrations/shortcut/) [Asana](https://www.edmundapp.com/integrations/asana/) [Todoist](https://www.edmundapp.com/integrations/todoist/) [ClickUp](https://www.edmundapp.com/integrations/clickup/) [Notion](https://www.edmundapp.com/integrations/notion/) [Reminders](https://www.edmundapp.com/integrations/reminders/) [Calendar](https://www.edmundapp.com/integrations/calendar/)

More to come, but only once they’re ready.

## Built for every screen you own.

Capture on your phone, tidy up on your Mac. It’s all just there, kept perfectly in sync. One purchase covers the lot.

FAQ

## The honest answers.

### Is my data private?

Yes. Triage runs on-device by default, there’s no account, and your notes are never sent to an AI provider unless you add your own Anthropic key and choose that engine. Sync is your own iCloud, and routing sends a note onward only when you send it. I never see your notes, your voice audio, or your captured thoughts, and there is no server of mine for them to be on.

### Do I need an account?

No. Download and start capturing. There’s no sign-up, no email, no onboarding wall.

### Do I need an API key?

No. On-device AI is free and built in. You can add your own Anthropic key for a smarter cloud engine, but it’s entirely optional.

### What can it route to?

Linear, GitHub, Jira, GitLab, Shortcut, Asana, Todoist, ClickUp, Notion, Apple Reminders and Apple Calendar, with more only when they’re genuinely ready.

### What happens when I set a reminder?

Edmund nudges you at the time you picked, wherever that note ended up. Reminders are separate from routing, so you can send a note off to Linear and still get poked about it on Thursday. Switch on “Show reminders in Apple Reminders” in Settings and those reminders also appear over there, in their own “Edmund Nudges” list, each one linking back to the note. It stays off until you turn it on.

### Can I just talk and let it sort the mess out?

That’s brain dump mode. Switch the capture screen from Note to Brain dump, then talk (or type) for as long as you like, about as many things as you like. Pause for a beat between thoughts and Edmund breaks the ramble into separate notes, triages each one on its own, and leaves the lot in your Inbox to confirm. On an iPhone or Mac with Apple Intelligence, or with your own Anthropic key, it splits on meaning as well as on your pauses; on an older device with no key a pause is the only boundary it has, so do leave one. The full text of what you said is kept either way, with every note linking back to it. Get it all out of your head in one go and let Edmund do the sorting.

### Does it work with Siri?

Yes. Say “Edmund note” (or “Edmund capture”), and when it asks what to capture, dictate your note. It drops straight into your inbox to triage later, no app open. The trick is to start with the name. What won’t work is “Tell Edmund” or “Add to Edmund”: Siri reads “Tell …” as sending a message and “Add to …” as its own Reminders or Notes, and answers them itself before Edmund is ever asked. Open with “Edmund” and you’re fine. That’s Apple’s doing, not mine.

### Which devices?

iPhone, iPad and Mac (a universal purchase covers all three), plus an Apple Watch app for capture.

### What does it cost?

Free, with a generous ceiling. Pro is £3.99/month or £29.99/year and removes the limits, with a free trial.

### Why isn’t there a subscription for the AI?

Because charging monthly for AI would mean running it on my servers, reading your notes to do it. Edmund won’t. Triage is on-device by default, or your own Anthropic key if you want a smarter engine, and paying never unlocks a feature. Pro only lifts the limits.

### Does it work offline?

Yes. On-device AI triage works with no connection at all. Routing a note onward to a destination needs the network, of course.

### Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. Your subscription is managed through your App Store account. Cancel there and you keep Pro until the period ends.
